NIS Elements supports MS Access, MS SQL, and Oracle databases.
The capabilities of the database module are following:
- The system can create and control MS Access databases (*.MDB), the images are stored on hard disk, only links to them and other data are stored in the database file.
- The system can connect to and control a running MS SQL or Oracle SQL server database, the images are stored on the server machine within the database. This concept requires a standalone SQL system and is recommended when working with large amounts of data. Administering and back-ups are handled by the SQL server.
- Database access rights can be set for individual users using password and/or Windows account protection. Both protection types can be combined in one database.
